During a reveal event taking place in Moscow, Russia, the country’s special edition of the new fighting game was announced to come with a costume for Skarlet that will be exclusive to the region – for the time being at least. North America’s Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat 11 appears to just come with a steelbook case and Kombat Pack for the game plus Shao Kahn DLC and beta access for those that pre-order it. Each pack has had four characters (plus some costume bundles), and from the sound of things, a third one is on the way before the studio presumably devotes its full time towards Injustice 2. Netherrealm’s Ed Boon hinted as such earlier today, basically going “hey, you should stay tuned to EVO next month! This new Kold War outfit for Skarlet gives her back her red hair from Mortal Kombat 9 along with a heavily stylized Soviet military hat and coat in her signature red and black colors plus a mask across her face that contains a red star.
Skarlet was one of the seven characters officially unveiled during Mortal Kombat 11’s big reveal event last week though it appears as though she’ll be receiving some extra love in the former Soviet Union. HEADLESS KOMBAT (headless combat), will allow you to enter a game where the heads of the characters will be completely detached and consequently any attack with that essential part will be deactivated. EVO is the big fighting game tournament that’ll be running from July 15-17. If there’s any place that would be perfect for announcing new Mortal Kombat X DLC, that would definitely be the place. Ve got some cool mortal kombat x news cOming! Kung Lao and Liu Kang – coming from the same line of Shaolin warriors, Kung Lao, and his descendant, Liu Kang are fierce warriors and defenders of Earthrealm.
Best comparison I can think of are costumes that can be unlocked by grinding, except instead of grinding, you have to master a skill to (consistently) obtain the fatality for “free”. There is no incentive to purchase this, and even fans of the series, the people this sort of package is intended to target, are more likely to laugh at these special editions than purchase one. These “special” editions deserve no more consideration than that.
Given how the last two packs had famous movie monsters-the first had Jason Voorhees and Predator, while the second had Leatherface and Alien-the third will more than likely have another pair as well. This is an overpriced, poorly disguised day 1 DLC package that isn’t even worth considering as everyone knows that about eight months later we can expect a Mortal Kombat X: Kgame of the Kyear Edition that comes with all this content and more for half the price.
